How did you find us?

The first question asked by most people trying to start exporting or importing is, “How do I apply for an export-import licence or permit in the USA or Canada?” What many people don't realize is that there is no single, universal, one-size-fits-all export-import licence or permit that covers every product and every type of international trade in the USA, Canada, or many other countries.

Instead, different products can require different licences, permits, registrations and other compliance requirements, depending on what you are importing or exporting and the regulations that apply to that particular product.

For example, you may need an SFC licence to import certain food products for human consumption into Canada under the Safe Food for Canadians Regulations (SFCR), administered by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA). Similarly, different products may be subject to different licences, permits and compliance requirements in both the USA and Canada.

You will learn how to identify the licences, permits and other compliance requirements applicable to your products during the training.

Do I need an import-export licence in Canada or USA?

Are there "in person" export, import & shipping classes held as well ?

We used to conduct "in person" export import & shipping training classes in our Brampton, Ontario (Canada) office. That model had some drawbacks:

1. We couldn't allow live recording of the sessions due to privacy laws and as such trainees were not able to review the sessions; However, now in the online version of the training, the trainees can review as many times as they like during the training & consultation period.

2. The schedule did not match everyone's preference and as such it was not feasible for many trainees to attend. We launched the online training version after so many requests and we are glad that we did. Now, trainees can select their own schedule and review the training material whenever they like.

3. Many people had to travel long distances and some even had to stay in hotels. Now, trainees can learn within the comfort of their own homes.

For the aforementioned reasons, the program is now offered online only.

FAQs

How is Cangem's Export Import & Shipping Course different than others?

  • This is the only export-import training program that is offered by a multinational export import corporation and not a training institute or a college; thus our program is based on practical knowledge. You will learn the practical step by step process with real documents and real scenarios. You don't get this anywhere from training institutes!

  • You get step by step instructions to register your company, get all import-export licenses/permits in place, learn how to work with sellers, buyers, freight forwarders, custom brokers, shipping lines, and other entities. Accountants, consultants or lawyers charge thousands of dollars just for this.

  • There are many programs offered by colleges in Canada and US and the fees for the some of them is north of $10,000. Topics like incoterms alone cost hundreds of dollars to learn from reputable sources. The trade consultants charge hundreds of dollars per hour to give insight into the current commodities market and trends. Corporate lawyers charge hundreds of dollars per hour to formulate legal documents, some agreements costing you north of $1500. You get all this directly from a company who has been in this business for more than a decade for a fraction of the market price.

  • We explain both the official requirements and the practical realities you may encounter in international trade. This includes helping you recognize common industry practices, unofficial terminology, anomalies, and documentation that may differ from the official requirements, so you can identify potential problems and protect your transactions.

  • We provide support & consultation for two months (if "Training & Consultation" plan is purchased) even after the training. We will overview if you are doing everything properly, selecting proper incoterms, payment terms and documentation in every business deal. No institute offers this !
